United Airlines has announced that it is updating how travelers earn MileagePlus Premier status by eliminating Premier qualifying flights (PQF). Previously, travelers could earn Premier status with a combination of Premier qualifying flights (PQF) and Premier qualifying points (PQP). Starting Januray 1st, 2027, Premier status can only be earned by reaching the following PQP thresholds when flying United, United Express, a Star Alliance partner, or spending with an eligible United card.
- Premier Silver
- 6,000 PQP
- Premier Gold
- 12,000 PQP
- Premier Platinum
- 18,000 PQP
- Premier 1K
- 32,000 PQP
While PQFs are being eliminated, travelers are still required to fly at least four United or United Express flights in 2027 on top of earning the PQPs.
